The SMART Board

In crossroads South middle school we have been given new SMART boards. The SMART board is a new technology that gives hands on learning to our class. It is a special board that is combined with a projector to make learning fun. To be used it is like a touch screen that every one can use. There is a computer that is linked to it so the teacher can have us learn without having to give boring lessons. Right now there is few in the school, but in the future there will possibly be more.

Bypassing Paralyzed Muscles and Nerves

A paralyzed monkey was able to move his forearm with scientific discovery. The monkey had its forearm muscles electronically attached to the brain. Many scientists are being skeptical about if this can then be used on current paralyzed patients. This experiment had been the first time that the neuron was electrically linked to an animals own muscles. The experiment was also a test of the brains flexibility which it proved itself. In conclusion the use of electrodes implanted in paralyzed patients could one day help humans regain use of their paralyzed limbs.

Kites flying high

The day that our class went to fly our kites was a great lesson on winds. From this experiment we had learned how kites, planes, or birds fly. An object must first be aerodynamic to fly so it will not drag in the wind and crash. There are also certain winds for planes that has such a strong current that it saves the planes by it drifting these are called trade winds. Not all of the kites that had been made was flying because of their characteristics. My kite had flew well for about 10 seconds then it would wouldn't fly.

where water goes with weather

In class the other day we had done an experiment with weather and water. The main idea was to show where evaporation, rain fall, and humans affects each water supply. Also in the middle of this experiment blue food dye had been added from man-made sources that represents pollution. By the end of this experiment almost every water source had pollution. As a result of the experiment, humans and manmade objects and places had most water in their supply. While this happened the other water sources had been severely depleted. This was a good learning and hands on activity. It was pretty fun.

social studies revolutionary invention

I would have to say the invention that has made a great impact on society is the iPod. My opinion that this is a big impact on society is that you can listen to your music where ever, whenever. It is definitely a great advantage over carrying a CD player and all your Cd's everywhere. Also iPods are reliable and there are many different kinds to choose from, while for CD players its not. The iPod also has so many models that fit your life just right. So over any other music and multimedia device I would pick the iPod.

popping fun lab

This experiment was the best lab yet. We had to mix the right amount of vinegar and baking soda. Then it would cause a strong enough chemical reaction to hit the window. The worst part was how the room smelled. Our trick was to dip the cork in water and cover it in baking soda. My team had hit the window 4 times in a row and got the extra credit. One time the cork wouldn't come off for a team and got all over them. I really hope we do more fun stuff like this.

2008 politics

I consider this year to be a historic year in politics. For instance there might be a woman like Hillary Clinton or a black male like Barack Obama. The voters are going to have to make a tough decision to elect the right canditate for white house. It will be likley Hillary will get less votes in the primary because of her breakdown. I think this because people do not want a weak president especially in a time like this. Also some women feel obligated to vote for her because they think they have to support their own gender.

frog dissection

The frog dissections was one of the most disgusting dissections ever. I rather would have written an essay than this. Now it wasn't only gross it really smelled too. I was so glad Trey brought masks to hide the smell(a little). Also people were taking pictures! The weird part was that girls were more into the dissection than boys. Overall this was the most disgusting parts of science this year(so far!).
